Frame-based Landscape Model
     Customize FVS Input
Forest Vegetation Simulation (FVS)
is the national framework for forest growth and yield modeling and is being developed and maintained by US Forest Service. We are using the Southern variant of FVS and its Fire and Fuels extension to grow young forest stands from three typical LMV forest types on WRP land. The user can select one of the forest types or a mixed option with percentages for each of the desired forest types. FVS produces output files that contain the age of the stand and the total carbon stocks (below and aboveground) every 5 years over a 100 years simulation. The output files are used by the frame-based landscape model for computing the carbon stocks at the landscape level.
The resulting FVS model output is a required input for the frame-based landscape model.
